Relaxing Riverton and veggie patch prep

IMG_2936I’ve been to Riverton a few times this week, it’s a wonderful place to relax, one of our favourite places.

I love to sit at Howells Point, the rocks are so ragged and volcanic, their old molten lava story clearly visible in the shapes and colours. It’s a special place for me, that makes me feel closer to mum, I imagine her on the waves whispering to me.

We have also made a start on catching up in the garden. The spring bulbs are coming up, but sadly nothing stops growing on winter not even the grass! We are planning to grow carrots, potatoes and onions, as well as tomatoes and strawberries. Wish us luck, they’re from seed this time, and it’s our first time trying this! I’ve managed alright with herbs, most survived the winter. We have added mint and garlic to the collection. My parsley is doing VERY well!

imageIt was the second of the three Bledisloe cup matches on Saturday, so we went down to the Northern Tavern to watch the game on their huge screen, and have dinner out. I LOVE their ‘peas pie and pud’!

On Sunday we went tramping at Mores reserve. It’s a beautiful 2 hour walk that takes you down to a secluded series of beaches and coastline, only accessible by foot. You feel like you are the only people in the world. We love it there.
