Day 8 post BKA: Well today so much has happened, but the most important thing of all that was the only thing that could salvage my birthday today, actually DID happen! (Put sound on)
Exciting news on my way to discharge, plus exciting news on my mission to be independent! Today has been a great day!
When you aren’t the typical candidate for a BKA and the hospital staff aren’t used to seeing someone as enthusiastic as you, it can be frustrating, bordering on limiting. Here’s today’s events.
Today was the day that they unwrapped the bandage, took a look at the wound and made a decision whether I am allowed to start transferring to a wheelchair and doing some physio.
Today’s the day: the plan is to stop the spinal (local anaesthetic to the leg) and replace it with a combination of oral meds including the much dreaded opiates. 🤞🏻 it goes ok.
